I Need to Lecture My Opponents so They Don’t Suck Out on Me
Wise Hand Poker, Dec 2006
The following is a hand taken from my days of 8-tabling $20+$2 and $30+$3 STTs on Party Poker (go Poker Tracker!):
$20+$2 STT: Level 1, blinds at 10/15, seat 1 is the small blind, and seat 2 is the big blind
Seat 1: Anon1 ( 785 )
Seat 2: Yours_Truly ( 1270 ) [K♣5♠]
Seat 3: Innocent_Bystander ( 730 )
Seat 4: Mr_Know_It_All ( 1400 ) [5•5]
Seat 5: Anon2 ( 920 )
Seat 6: Anon3 ( 565 )
Seat 7: Anon4 ( 585 )
Seat 8: Mr_Suck_Out ( 870 ) [AT]
Seat 9: anon5 ( 875 )
Preflop, Innocent_Bystander, and Mr_Know_It_All limp. Anon2 folds. Anon3, Anon4, and Mr_Suck_Out call. Anon5 folds, Anon1 completes, and Yours_Truly checks. The pot is 105. The flop is 966, and everyone checks. The turn makes the board 9666. Seats 1-3 check. Mr_Know_It_All bets 50. Anon3 and Anon4 fold, Mr_Suck_Out calls, Anon1 and Yours_Truly fold, and Innocent_Bystander calls, making the pot 255. The river makes the board 9666A. Innocent_Bystander and Mr_Know_It_All check, Mr_Suck_Out bets 65, Innocent_Bystander folds, and Mr_Know_It_All calls. Mr_Suck_Out wins with sixes full of aces, taking the pot from Mr_Know_It_All, who had turned sixes full of fives.
Putting yourself in each player’s situation here and figuring out how to best play this hand is a good exercise. However, I want to focus on what happened after this hand. The following is the dialogue that occurred, left in its raw state of bad spelling, punctuation, grammar, and censor-defying spacing (the joys of internet poker…):
Mr_Know_It_All: f ing rat, chasin sob
Mr_Know_It_All: nice technique tool
Mr_Suck_Out: u were 2
Mr_Know_It_All: I had the boat retard
Mr_Know_It_All: before the riv
Mr_Suck_Out: what i didnt see
Mr_Know_It_All: I had 55
Mr_Suck_Out: ohhhh u should have gone all in
Mr_Know_It_All: nice chase though, you'll go a long way withthat style
Innocent_Bystander: you'll go a long way with your big mouth
Mr_Know_It_All: I know that's why I make a living taking your money, retard
Mr_Know_It_All: this is my job
Mr_Suck_Out: take us out XXXXX
Innocent_Bystander: it's mine too...you should act more professional
Mr_Know_It_All: naa no need

Mr_Know_It_All: eat my s h i t
Mr_Suck_Out: bring it
Mr_Know_It_All: I will bring it and you'll catch a miracle ace and win like you always dod
Innocent_Bystander: when you play higher limits, the bad players won't be as abundant...don't take them for granted
Innocent_Bystander: (not saying you are bad, Mr_Suck_Out)
Mr_Suck_Out: i play good
Mr_Know_It_All: not necessarily, I play 100 buy ins all the time and those tables are full of suck outs. All they are is little trust fund babies spending daddy's money
Innocent_Bystander: It's just not good business to badger the producers in a game, that's all I'm saying
Mr_Know_It_All: I'm just saying, when people put a bad beat on them you gotta let thw. Otherwise they will suck you out all game
